1. What is the Lufkin Community Food Drive?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Community Food Drive was started in 1999, by the late Rev. Bettie Kennedy.\u00a0 <\/span>Rev Kennedy enlisted numerous churches, businesses, and individuals to team together to provide Thanksgiving Food Baskets for families in need in East Texas.\u00a0 <\/span>In 1999, approximately 50 families were fed.\u00a0 <\/span>In 2023, we delivered to over 1,300 families. \u00a0 <\/span>This year, our goal is to again reach 1,300 families.<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

HOW IT WORKS<\/b><\/span>:<\/b><\/p>\n

Using funds raised by the community, we provide a ham and approximately 20 food items to families in our area. Food boxes are prepared and delivered on the same day (Saturday, November 22nd<\/sup><\/span>) by between 350-450 volunteers.<\/p>\n

FUNDRAISING<\/b><\/span>:<\/b><\/p>\n

Our fundraising goal for this year is $30,000<\/b>. \u00a0 <\/span>That is a traditionally large increase from year\u2019s past.\u00a0 <\/span>More families, higher food prices.\u00a0 <\/span>We do buy directly from the Food Bank in Tyler to stretch the dollars.<\/p>\n

2. How can I help?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interested in helping out? Come help assemble and deliver!<\/p>\n
